SHREK THE MOVIE OPENING SEQUENCE ANALYSIS (2001)
- The scene begins with the visual of a fairytale book to foreshadow the use of that ideology in the content of the film.
- Later after the storytelling had finished, the audience is introduced to the main character - an Ogre when bursting out the door showing that this character may be confrontational and he stands out a an individual.
- To establish more about the ogre we are then shown where the ogre lives and we watch the daily routine that the character follows to get a sense of the characters personality
- The title 'Shrek' is introduced during his rub against the mud insinuating that he's filthy character.
- We then see the main character indulge in mud as he showers in filth and washes his mouth out with it following a spit which introduces the famous - Mike Myers who is the voice of the main character.
- As the sequence continues, we see that that as the main character gazes into the mirror the mirror cracks suggesting and foreshadowing that he is found generally un-attractive. This reveals another Key cast member.
- The theme of introducing key cast members in association of the ogres routine continues until the content of film begins.
